Devotees have flocked to the Krishna Temple in Hanumandhoka, Kathmandu, since early this morning to worship Lord Krishna on Sri Krishna Janmashtami.

Today, devotees of the Vedic Sanatan Hindu religion celebrate 'Shri Krishna Janmashtami (birth anniversary of Lord Krishna)' with reverence and devotion across the country.

Lord Krishna, the pioneer of Knowledge Yoga, Karma Yoga, and Bhakti Yoga, was born at midnight on Bhadrakrishna Ashtami in the Dwapar era, therefore today is known as 'Krishna Janmashtami' and the night is known as 'Mohratri'.

On this day, worshippers of Lord Krishna gather in Krishna temples across the country to recite hymns and scriptures. Devotees stay awake all night.

Shri Krishna, the eighth incarnation of Lord Bishnu, was born to safeguard all humans from injustice, tyranny, and demonic tendencies. Throughout his life, he inspired the human community to do good things by standing up for truth.

The 'Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta' is regarded a holy text in Hindu mythology. The book is thought to have been translated into the greatest number of languages in the world.
