3.72 lakh tourists entered Lumbini in four months

BUTWAL, May 09: 3 lakh 72 thousand tourists have visited Lumbini in the last four months. Lumbini attracted 3 lakh 72 thousand tourists, including 2 lakh 36 thousand domestic tourists, 87 thousand Indians, and 48 thousand from foreign nations.

Dilip Kulung, Assistant Officer of the Lumbini Development Trust Information Branch, stated that, despite a decline in domestic tourists from the previous year, the trend of third-country and Indian tourist arrivals to Lumbini is increasing. Tourist arrivals in Lumbini, which had been dropping since the onset of Corona illness, have steadily returned to normal since last year. The number of tourists has risen.

Gyanin Rai, senior director of the Lumbini Development Trust, stated that tourists visited in large numbers even during the summer season. Lumbini is become the destination of choice for visitors to Nepal. According to Rai, Indians also arrive in large numbers. Director Rai stated that because tourists' stays in Lumbini are brief, attempts are being made to extend them. Along with local and foreign tourists, Indian tourists are increasingly visiting Lumbini.

Indian tourists visiting Nepal by land should be able to move freely in Nepal. The maximum number of rupees they can bring should be increased. According to Chandra Prakash Shrestha, president of the Siddharth Hotel Association, Indian tourists will increase much more ifthey can complete everything at the customs point without being subjected to additional procedures.  He stated that from the upcoming budget, Indian tourists coming by land route should be provided with unlimited facilities to bring money.

Similarly, 12,062 Thailand, 9,073 Sri Lanka, 7,200 Myanmar, 4,900 China, 3,500 Vietnam, and 2,006 South Korea tourists have visited Lumbini. 

Aside from Buddhist countries, tourists from Asia, Europe, and the United States have visited Lumbini. The main attractions for travelers visiting Lumbini are the Mayadevi Temple, Holy Pool, Ashok Pillar, Central Canal, Bishwo Shanti Stupa, and other indigenous and foreign Bihars.
