Bardiya National Park : Wildlife Adventure (Photo Feature)

Bardiya National Park : Wildlife Adventure (Photo Feature)

Bardiya National Park is located in the western region of Nepal and is renowned for its rich biodiversity, including bengal tigers, elephants, rhinoceros, and various species of birds. It’s a paradise for wildlife enthusiasts and adventurers seeking to explore Nepal’s natural wonders.

So it's my wishlist place for visiting Bardiya National Park, capturing the Bengal Tiger in my own camera, and showing my daughter what a tiger looks like beyond the books, cartoons, and TV shows. We had made plans in 2021, and came to reality in May 2024 with my family members.

As it is a family tour, we prioritize comfort rather than cost. So we took a flight from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj on May 6th. We stayed one night in Nepalgunj to taste local food (Biryani, Samosa Chat, Pan Masala, Matka Tea, Pani Puri, and other milk products).  The food of Nepalgunj is wonderful.

On May 7th, we took a private car to travel to Bardiya National Park and stayed at Babai Resort. We visited Karnali Bridge and Ghoda Ghodi Lake, which were nearby as we had enough time to explore the western region. On May 8th, 2024, after having breakfast, we started our one-day jeep safari in Bardia National Park. Our main objective was to see the Bengal Tiger in its own habitat.

As we proceeded towards the jungle, we saw different species of birds and other animals. There were different spots where we could see the tigers. We waited for almost more than 1.5 hours at one place but couldn’t see it and moved towards another place.

We had lunch at KATHAAS and waited for the tiger. After waiting for almost 1 hour, there was a call by langurs and deer indicating that the tiger was nearby. They used to signal each other if the tiger was nearby, and we got ready for capturing the Bengal Tiger as per the instructions of our guide. This was the first time I saw a Bengal Tiger, and I was very excited to see and capture it. At first, I was nervous and afraid, but our guide made me comfortable. I couldn’t take a perfect shot, but again I will visit it again to take better and best shots of the tiger along with other animals and birds. I suggest visiting Bardiya National Park to all wildlife lovers and nature lovers at least once in their life to experience the wildness of Bardiya National Park."
