Koshi Province to celebrates International Everest Day

KATHMANDU, March 19:Koshi Province Chief Minister Kedar Karki stated that the province will celebrate International Everest Day.

In a 'interaction program' held by the Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAN) in Kathmandu on Saturday, he announced that Koshi, the region with the world's highest peak, Mount Everest, will commemorate International Mount Everest Day.

The province is striving to grow the tourism industry in Koshi province and connect Indian visitors. "We are excited to welcome tourists from Darbhanga, Sikkim, Patna, and other regions to Koshi," stated Chief Minister Karki.

He expressed his conviction that the state government will play an essential role in resolving business issues because the government and businessmen are two sides of the same coin. He went on to say, "The government can be run only by the taxes they pay if the businessmen are protected" .

Bishal Ghimire, Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism, Forestry, and Environment of Koshi region, stated that the administration is aiming to increase tourism in the region.

"We are seeking for tourism opportunities around the province. The provincial administration will develop a strategy for its protection and development, he said.

Rojina Pradhan Rai, Vice President of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), expressed her opinion that the NRNA will play an essential role in promoting Everest Day around the world. 

Maniraj Lamichhane, Senior Director of the Nepal tourist Board, stated that the board is striving to promote Nepal's tourism sector internationally.

TAAN President Nilhari Bastola expressed concern that the trekking route is eroding as a result of the local government's indiscriminate road digging. He highlighted that everything should be done to deploy the Padayatra Information System (TIMS) and provide accurate information to foreign tourists.
