Govt raises insurance of mountaineering workers

KATHMANDU, Feb 04:The government has been raised the insurance amount for workers deployed in mountaineering 

The Mountaineering (Sixth Amendment) Regulations 2081 enhance the insurance amount for leaders, mountain guides, and personnel going to elevations to 2 million rupees. Previously, the insurance limit for these workers was 1.5 million rupees.

The insurance sum for base camp workers has been doubled to 1.5 million rupees. Previously, the insurance amount for these workers was 8 lakh rupees.

Before the mountaineering team embarks on a mountaineering expedition, the liaison officer, team leaders, mountain guides, workers going to altitudes, and workers going to base camp who accompany them must obtain personal accident insurance from a government-approved insurance company until they return after completing the mountaineering expedition. A 1.5 million insurance policy has been prescribed for the liaison officer.
