Tenzing Norgay Sherpa Open Climbing Competition concludes

KATHMANDU, Jan 31:The second edition of the Tenzing Norgay Sherpa Open Climbing Competition, jointly organized by the US Nepal Climbers Association and the Nepal National Mountain Guide Association, concluded on Thursday. The final competition, which took place at the Crimpanzee Adventure Hub in Boudha, featured eight men and eight women.
Vincent Sablich took the title in the men's category, followed by Dipan Gurung in second, Paul Schmidt in third, Tshering Gyaljen Sherpa in fourth, and Sajan Lama in fifth. Tamsin Hunt also took top position in the women's category, followed by Mingma Yangji Sherpa in second, Fura Diki Sherpa in third, Santoshi Magar in fourth, and Dipa Lamichhane in fifth.
Tanka Lal Ghising, Member Secretary of the National Sports Council Nepal, distributed certificates and cash prizes to the winners.
The first, second, and third-place winners of the competition won cash awards of Rs 45,000, Rs 30,000, and Rs 15,000, respectively.
The fourth and fifth-place winners in each category got gift hampers. The youngest and oldest contestants in the men's and women's category received gift hampers as well.
