Department of Tourism to establish tourist police units in Khaptad and Rara

KATHMANDU, Jan 19:The Department of Tourism, which is part of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, plans to set up a tourist police unit in Khaptad, the main tourist destination in Sudurpashchim Province, and Rara, the primary tourist destination in Karnali Province.

Although tourism police units exist in five provinces, they have yet to be established in Sudurpaschim and Karnali.

Tourism Minister Badri Pandey has agreed to establish tourist police units in Khaptad, Sudurpaschim, and Rara, Karnali, and the implementation process is ongoing, according to Dr. Narayan Regmi, Director General of the Department of Tourism.

The establishment of tourist police units in Khaptad and Rara is expected to facilitate visitor transit. The tourist police have been working to ensure the peace and security of visitors from other countries, as well as to assist them.
