Development of tourism infrastructure necessary for tourism development: FNCCI President Dhakal

POKHARA, Jan 18:President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) Chandra Prasad Dhakal has said that the development of tourism infrastructure is necessary for the development of tourism.

Speaking at the Maghe Sankranti Fair-2081 and the 30th anniversary celebration of the Sikles Youth Club organized in Sikles village, Madi Rural Municipality-1, Kaski district, with the slogan 'Sikles Festival for the Promotion of Rural Tourism', he opined that tourism is an important sector for economic development.

Stating that tourism has immense potential in Nepal, he said that tourism can make the country's overall economy dynamic and create employment and achieve economic development.

He also said that a new cable car is under construction in Sikles and that with the construction of the cable car, a new dimension will be added to the tourism of the region.

'Sikles is famous in the country and abroad as an attractive tourist destination. The construction of the cable car will add new tourist infrastructure to Sikles. The cable car will not only make a significant contribution to the economic, social and cultural development of this region but will also be helpful for the promotion of tourism, economic development and prosperity of the entire region,' he said.

Informing that the procedural work for the new cable car from Sikles to Kori has been completed, he said that the construction of the cable car will have a positive impact on the social and economic development of the area.

Similarly, he said that the preservation of local art and culture is necessary for tourism, and appreciated the role played by the local youth club in preserving art and culture.

Sikles village, which is predominantly Gurung, is located in Madi Rural Municipality-1 of Kaski.

The Annapurna and Lamjung mountain ranges can be seen from the tourist village Sikles. Sikles, located in the northeastern part of Kaski district, is about 40 km from Pokhara.
