Swasthani Brata Katha begins today
KATHMANDU, Jan 13:The Swasthani Brata Katha and Madhav Narayan Puja, which take place every year on the day of Paush Shukla Purnima, began today.
Every year, from Paush Shukla Purnima to Magh Shukla Purnima, the Swasthani Brata Katha is tell and listened in every home for a month. It is thought that observing the Swasthani Brata, telling the story, and listening to it will result in the fulfillment of one's wishes.
As a result, on this day, it begins with cutting the nails on the hands and feet, taking a bath, and dressing in clean clothes. Every day at noon, after a morning bath, Lord Shiva is worshipped. In the evening, there is a practice of listening to the Swasthani Brata Katha, a discussion between the great monarch Agastya and the great king of Magh from the Skanda Purana's Kedar section.
After fasting for a month in this manner, on the full moon day of Magh Shukla, 108 janais, 108 betel nuts, 108 betel leaves, 108 flowers, 108 rotis, 108 akshasas of various fruits, incense, lamps, offerings, shrikhand, blood sandalwood, vermilion, clothes, and offerings are presented to the Goddess in order for the fast's wishes to be fulfilled.
