AmCham Nepal 3rd AGM concluded
KATHMANDU:The third general meeting of the American Chamber of Commerce in Nepal (AmCham Nepal) has concluded. The general meeting of AmCham Nepal, which was established with the goal of encouraging American investment to Nepal and creating economic links between the two nations, included a review of the previous year and a future action plan.
During the event, Siddhant Mehra, Executive Director of the US Chamber of Commerce, South Asia, praised AmCham Nepal's performance in the short period since its establishment in Nepal.
Nirmal Kaji Shrestha, President of AmCham Nepal, stated that 2024 is an important year for the organization. He stated that it is engaged with the goal of developing new investment opportunities in Nepal and improving Nepal-US commercial connections.
According to Shrestha, AmCham Nepal has been campaigning for a variety of issues to address concerns with foreign investment in Nepal, as well as organizing high-level meetings.
President Shrestha expressed satisfaction that AmCham Nepal, founded in 2021 under the leadership of Ajit Bikram Shah and with unparalleled assistance from the US Embassy in Nepal, has developed itself as a multifaceted and prominent business group.
On that occasion, AmCham Nepal reported that in the previous year, it had formally lobbied for its members' interests 58 times. During this time, it asserted that it boosted advocacy by holding 20 high-level meetings and publishing 60 articles on various causes. During this time, AmCham Nepal reported that Rs. 31.5 lakh had been placed into the fund.
AmCham Nepal has added 16 new members over the last year. There were 38 members in 2023, but that number has now climbed to 54. AmCham Nepal General Manager Amirraj Thapa stated that the organization has held discussions, engagements, and debates with stakeholders at various times to establish an investment-friendly environment in Nepal.
AmCham Nepal claimed that it has continued to conduct official and informal programs throughout the year.Last April, the organization spoke with US Chamber of Commerce Ambassador Atul Keshav about Nepal-US trade relations, and AmCham Nepal interactions that its members also met with the US Patent and Trademark Office and the US Trade and Development Agency.
