Tribhuvan International Airport upgrades 34 percent complete

KATHMANDU, Jan 09:Tribhuvan International Airport's upgrade project is 34% completed, having started on November 8.

The Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation informed the House of Representatives' International Relations and Tourism Committee on last Thursday that 34.33 percent of the work was completed by December 15.

The ministry states that 48 percent of the parking apron's construction is completed. In the same way, 32% of the taxiway's construction is completed. Twenty-three percent of the hangar apron's construction is completed.

The construction, which began on November 8, is scheduled to last from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m. the following morning. The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal plans to shorten airport construction time to eight hours beginning in the first week of February.

The construction of parallel taxiways, hangers, and aprons for international aircraft is expected to be completed by March 31 and will cost 15 billion.
