Chitwan Elephant and Tourism Festival concludes
CHITWAN, Jan 02:The Chitwan Elephant and Tourism Festival has concluded in the tourist city of Sauraha. Ganga Giri, the chairman of the Regional Hotel Association, stated that 35,000 local and foreign tourists visited Sauraha during the event, which began last Thursday. Sauraha attracts thousands of domestic and foreign tourists each year.
Tourists visit Sauraha to see tigers, elephants, and other wild animals at the Chitwan National Park. Every year, hoteliers in Sauraha organize a various programs to promote tourism. General Secretary Gunaraj Thapaliya stated that the festival, which has been held for two decades, has increased the number of tourists visiting Sauraha and Chitwan by 40 percent each year.
The elephant festival included elephant beauty, an elephant picnic, an elephant-friendly football penalty, an elephant-friendly musical stroll, an elephant health check-up camp, a municipal-level boat race competition, and a seminar with domestic and international tour and travel company. Around 80 elephants, both government and private, took part in the festival.
