Gurung Heritage Trail Promotion Program concluded

POKHARA, Dec 28:The Gurung Tourism Entrepreneurs' Association of Nepal (GTEAN) Gandaki has concluded a promotion program for the Gurung Heritage Trekking Trail, which runs from Pokhara to Pokhara via Sikles-Kapuche-Kwholasothar-Karpu Danda and Yangjakot.

The GTEAN-organized program, which began on December 21, is backed by the Nepal Tourism Board, Madi Rural Municipality, and Gandaki Province's Ministry of Industry and Tourism, according to Bobar Jang Gurung, program coordinator and founder president of the GTEAN.

He stated that a 45-person team consisting of tourist entrepreneurs, guides, and media professionals began the walk from Sikles under the promotion program and traveled to Yangjakot via Kapuche glacier lakes, Kori, Kwholasothar, and Karpu Danda. He said that the Gurung Heritage Trekking Trail could become an important alternative at a time when the trend of losing and shortening trekking trails is increasing with the expansion of the road network.

“It seems that infrastructure needs to be managed at various places along the trekking route,” he said. “Development of infrastructure including hotels is necessary at various places along the trekking route, while management of communication facilities, drinking water, etc. is indispensable.”

Along the trekking route, there are rivers, picturesque ponds, Kharka, lakes, and charming huts. He also stated that mountain ranges such as Annapurna, Machhapuchhre, Lamjung, Himlung, Ganesh, Himalchuli, and Manaslu can be seen from close proximity. Gurung, the founding chairman, suggests that the trail connecting the pastures and barns where cattle and sheep grazed in ancient times be turned into a trekking route.
