Sky High Celebrations:BYD International Hot Air Balloon Festival Kicks Off in Pokhara
POKHARA, Dec 24:The International Hot Air Balloon Festival has officially started in Pokhara, Nepal’s tourism capital. This much-anticipated event, taking place at Siran Pame near Phewa Lake, is set to run from December 24, 2024, to January 1, 2025.
A total of 17 hot air balloons from 15 different countries are taking to the skies, creating a dazzling sight. The festival is being organised by Balloon Nepal Pvt. Ltd. in partnership with the Pokhara Tourism Council.
The balloon flights cover a three-kilometre route stretching from Lauruk to Changkhapur in Pokhara Metropolitan City-24. Unlike regular flights that ascend to 9,000 feet, the balloons are flying at a maximum height of 5,000 feet for this event, ensuring the best views and safety for all participants.
Besides the thrilling balloon rides, the festival offers an exciting lineup of activities, including food stalls, entertaining games, and daily musical performances.
Ticket prices have been set at Rs. 11,000 for Nepalese citizens. Visitors from SAARC countries and China are charged $120, while those from other nations pay $150.
This spectacular festival is expected to enhance Pokhara's standing as a premier destination for adventure tourism, drawing visitors from near and far to experience the vibrant celebrations.
