Minister Pandey emphasized need for the private sector to step forward promote the tourism sector
KATHMANDU, Dec 20:Badri Pandey, Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, has emphasized the importance of the private sector in driving tourism development. Minister Pandey remarked this while speaking at the Nepal-China Cultural Summit, which was organized by the Nepal Handicraft Federation Nepal for the first time in the capital on Wednesday.
Minister Pandey stated, "There is no alternative to the private sector moving forward with the development of the tourism sector. Only when the business sector and the government work together can the tourist sector be fully developed." He was pleased that the Chinese are developing the tourism sector through'storytelling', which includes intangible components of culture. He stated that'storytelling' is crucial for connecting material and intangible culture because physical culture alone does not convey anything. He promoted eco-friendly tourism as a way to prevent environmental damage.
He stated that the development of the IT sector has reached a climax in recent years, emphasizing the importance of moving forward with a focus on the development of digital tourism. He recalled that Nepal and China have been connected since ancient times, including through painting and woodcarving, and expressed hope that the Nepal-China Summit would improve bilateral relations even more. Minister Pandey said that the government would leave no stone unturned to ensure the ease of tourists entering Nepal by land and air.
