A mechanism to be formed to formulate a concept for cultural tourist development

KATHMANDU, Dec 20:The thematic committee meeting of the Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation sector decided to form a mechanism to develop a concept for cultural tourism based on the Karnali, Gandaki, and Koshi river civilizations.

The meeting held  at Thakurbaba in Bardiya, chaired by Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation Badri Prasad Pandey, decided to develop a mechanism with representation from all three levels of government and prepare an action plan within a month.

The mechanism will be led by four people: a tourism specialist from the Nepal Academy of Tourism and Hotel Management (NATHM), a cultural expert, the head of the Architecture Department at the Institute of Engineering Studies, and one representative from private and corporate investors.

The meeting decided to use local construction materials such as wood, clay, and so on instead of iron, cement, concrete, and zincsheets when building monasteries and temples across the country, and to ensure a minimum participatory contribution from local residents and communities.

Similarly, it has been decided to organize a food and cultural festival in the coming Falgun as a joint initiative of the municipalities, provinces, associations, local business associations, and communities connected to the major border points with Nepal, and to invite the nearby districts and organizations on the Indian side to participate.

The meeting decided to organize a week-long heritage trip in Falgun, with representation from Legislative Assembly members under the age of 40 from each province bordering India and China. It has been determined to choose two schools from each province and develop a workable mechanism for establishing a model cultural and tourism club, often known as a culture club.

Similarly, each province has agreed to internalize the Trekking Trail Construction Standards, 2081, and the Tourism Decade Action Plan was considered at the meeting.
