Six-Month  Chinese language training for Nepali tourism entrepreneurs concludes

KATHMANDU, Dec 18:A Chinese language training program for tourism entrepreneurs has concluded.

The training session was co-organized by the Nepal Tourism Board, the Chinese Embassy in Nepal, and the Nepal-China Cultural and Educational Council. The goal of this program was to help Nepali tourism entrepreneurs connect and serve Chinese tourists more efficiently.

This year, 100 participants took part in the six-month training. Out of these, 40 achieved proficiency in the Chinese language standard and received certificates.

Hikmat Singh Ayer, Senior Director of the Nepal Tourism Board, underlined the value of language proficiency during the closing ceremony. He stated that language is the basis of effective service and hospitality in the tourism industry, and that such programs would help to make Nepal's tourism sector competitive on a global scale.

Similarly, Wang Xin, Deputy Head of Mission at the Chinese Embassy, stated that such activities are vital to develop Nepal's strong cultural, social, and economic ties with China.

The concluding ceremony was graced by the presence of distinguished guests, including Mr. Hikmat Singh Ayer, Senior Director of NTB,  Mr. Ram Krishna Lamichhane, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation (MoCTCA), Mr. Wang Xin, Deputy  Chief of Mission, Chinese Embassy and Dr. Harish Chandra Shah, Chairperson of NCCEC.

NTB has consistently been at the forefront of training tourism professionals in areas such as language skills, digital marketing, nature-based tourism, and hospitality management. These initiatives are part of NTB’s broader strategy to enhance the quality and competitiveness of Nepal’s tourism sector.

The successful completion of the Chinese language training program reflects NTB’s vision of building a skilled and dynamic workforce that can drive Nepal’s tourism growth in the years to come.
