Helicopter flights in Khumbu region will not halt
KATHMANDU, Dec 15:The Airline Operators Association of Nepal (AOAN) has said that it will not halt flights in the Khumbu region after the Sagarmatha National Park issued a circular prohibiting helicopter flights. The AOAN has opposed to the circular, stating that flights will continue.
A press release issued by the AOAN on Thursday stated: "We are not obligated to comply with the ban imposed by the park on flights outside its jurisdiction, as helicopters are flying in the area with the approval of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation and the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN)."
We tell you that member airlines will continue to fly to their current destinations after obtaining permission from the CAAN.
Additionally, the AOAN urged all member companies to continue flying in accordance with the legislation. Last Wednesday, the park informed the AOAN that it would not allow flights in the Khumbu region.
