Street Newa food festival begins in Dhading

DHADING, Dec 14:The Street Newa Food Festival began on Saturday in Dhading Besi, Dhading. The festival was organized by the Jhingu Newa Society in Dhading under the slogan 'Eat on the Street, Enjoy on the Street, Earn on the Street'.

Rajkumar Shrestha, president of the Jhingu Newa Society in Dhading, stated that the festival was planned to establish national and international recognition for the Newari language, culture, food, and apparel. 'We hope that the Street Newa Food Festival will help to revitalize the dying Newari culture. "The people's enthusiastic participation has given us more encouragement," he remarked.

The street festival will feature a variety of Newari foods such as Yomari, Chatamari, Bara Chhoila, Mushroom Chhoila, Soyabin Chhoila, and others. 

"We are holding a cultural program with a stage on the side of the street."We've been making and serving a variety of Newari foods on the other side of the street," he said, "and many people have come to see what it's like. It is expected that more than 1,500 people would attend the two-day festival to eat, have fun, and try Newari dishes while also learning about Newari culture.

The road festival, which began on Saturday, will run from 2pm to 8 pm every day until Sunday. The Jhingu Newari Society of Dhading organizes this road event under the patronage of Nilkantha Municipality-3.
