English New Year: Pokhara will host a street festival
POKHARA, Dec 11:The Restaurant and Bar Association (REBAN) Pokhara will conduct the 26th Pokhara Street Festival to mark the English New Year.
The 26th Pokhara Street Festival coordinator, Bikash Bhattarai, said that the street festival will take place from December 28th to January 1st under the slogan 'Let's eat on the street, let's enjoy on the street'.
This year's street festival will cover a three-kilometer region of Lakeside (from the Fishtail Gate to Khahare), like it does every year.
REBAN Pokhara Chairman Bishwaraj Poudel stated that the festival is becoming increasingly crucial in drawing both domestic and international tourists to Pokhara. He stated that the festival is growing successful in marketing local products while also supporting art and culture.
Cultural coordinator Chau Bahadur Gurung stated that the festival's main attractions include cultural programs for various ethnic groups on the verge of extinction, traditional costume displays, tableau competitions, national and international food displays, live concerts, and sports competitions such as boat races, waiter races, tug of war, mayhem, and sausage eating contests.
This year, there will be cultural performances from Lamjung, featuring Krishna characters, Bhojpuri dances, and cultural performances from neighboring India and China, he stated.
