Alina Chaudhary wins TOFTigers Lodge Naturalist of the Year 2024

KATHMANDU, Dec 11:Alina Chaudhary, a wildlife guide at Chitwan's Barahi Jungle Lodge, has received the prestigious international 'TOFTigers Lodge Naturalist' award. Alina Chaudhary has received the TOFTigers Lodge Naturalist of the Year 2024 award for her contributions to wildlife conservation, sustainable tourism, and supporting women's involvement in conservation.

Alina defeated five other candidates to win this year's award. She received the awards at a ceremony held on December 6 at Bikaner House in New Delhi, India. She is the only woman to have received this honor. This award honors her outstanding contributions to wildlife conservation, sustainable tourism, and the empowerment of women in a traditionally male-dominated field.

Alina, who has a deep passion and dedication to nature, has also entered the conservation field as a result of her family heritage.Alina credits her father, D. B. Chaudhary, who works in tourism, and her grandfather, who works in animal conservation, for inspiring her to pursue a career in this sector.

Alina, who received her Nature Guide certification from the National Trust for Nature Conservation (NTNC) in 2019, began working at Barahi Jungle Lodge in 2021. She then participated in a bird conservation initiative in Chitwan National Park.

Prakash Chand, General Manager of Barahi Jungle Lodge, expressed his pride in Alina's success. Alina's success exemplifies the courage and passion of women in conservation. Her dedication and passion are transforming the face of nature and tourism. "We are proud to support her and others like her."

He stated that the distinguished prize honors not only Alina, but also the work culture of Barahi Jungle Lodge in terms of diversity and women's empowerment. Chand stated that in the coming days, Barahi Jungle Lodge will continue to foster a robust and inclusive environment while also providing additional leadership chances for women.

Barahi Jungle Lodge, located on the Rapti River in Chitwan National Park, is an eco-friendly  destination. It was established with the main objective of conserving nature and promoting diversity along with comfortable hospitality.
