Airfare hiked up to Rs.125
KATHMANDU, Dec 06:The Nepal Oil Corporation Limited (NOC) has decided to raise the fee by up to Rs 125, citing an increase in aviation fuel prices by Rs 2 per litre on Saturday. The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) indicated that the decision to raise the rate was made due to an increase in fuel prices, which has impacted the entire cost. CAAN has also written to the Airlines Company, requesting that the increased fares be implemented for flights beginning Wednesday.
The highest fee increase of Rs 125 per passenger is recommended for the 121-minute trip from Biratnagar to Dhangadi. CAAN has indicated that the minimum charge for this route is Rs 8,115 for fuel expenses, and that starting Wednesday, the ticket price can be calculated by adding Rs 8,240. However, airlines have not implemented CAAN's recommended minimum fare.
The lowest cost for the Kathmandu-Simara route would increase by Rs 15 under the new rates, which go into effect on Wednesday. This route requires a 16-minute flight. While the fuel cost per ticket on this route is Rs 1,135 per flight, the ticket price will be calculated by adding Rs 1,150 beginning Wednesday. CAAN has suggested that the airlines company impose new rates for flights to 55 locations, including mountain flight, to reflect the increased fuel cost.
