Himalaya Airlines to operate Pokhara-Lhasa flights
KATHMANDU, Nov 28:Himalaya Airlines, a private airline that provides international aviation services, will begin regular flights between Pokhara International Airport and Lhasa Airport in Tibet.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), Himalaya Airlines intends to begin flights between Pokhara and Lhasa in December.
Himalaya Airlines has requested CAAN to resume flights as soon as Lhasa's Gongar Airport grants authorization for the slot. According to CAAN sources, normal commercial flights will resume at Pokhara Airport once approval from Lhasa Airport is received.
Although the Pokhara international Airport has been operational since January 1, 2023, no other international flights have been operated, with the exception of charter flights. Himalaya Airlines will fly the first regular commercial flight from Pokhara Airport.
Every Monday, Himalaya Airlines will travel from Kathmandu to Lhasa and then to Pokhara. On Monday, Himalaya Airlines' plane will remain in Pokhara. On Tuesday, it transmitted the flight schedule to the CAAN, which included a flight from Pokhara to Lhasa and then back to Kathmandu.
Similarly, Himalaya Airlines has asked permission to fly between Kathmandu and Lhasa on Wednesdays and Fridays.
The CAAN will grant Himalaya Airlines easy clearance to fly to Pokhara. However, Himalaya Airlines will need to get permission from Lhasa Airport. If Lhasa Airport grants clearance, Pokhara-Lhasa flights will be available in December.
