Determining standard of hotels in Birgunj

PARSA, Nov 25:The process of setting standards and classifying hotels in Birgunj has begun. The Food Technology and Quality Control Office in Janakpur has begun the classification process by inspecting the cleanliness and food items of several hotels in Birgunj.

During the monitoring, the standards of various hotels were identified and graded based on the food hygiene level by inspecting the kitchen cleanliness, food storage methods, and cold chain technology. A monitoring team led by Food Research Officer Suresh Kumar Singh of the Food Technology and Quality Control Department, Birgunj, which under to the Food Technology and Quality Control Office, Janakpur, visited ten different hotels in Birgunj.

According to Food Research Officer Suresh Kumar Singh, the kitchens and stored food goods in all monitored hotels were inspected, as well as the calorie content of the cooking oil used in the kitchen by a tester. Three of the ten hotels monitored in Birgunj, the four-star Sarovar Portico Birgunj, Hotel Diyalo, and Hotel Biswa, have received a Class A green sticker for food hygiene and have been distributed and renewed with logos.

Hari Panta, president of Birgunj Hotel and Tourism Association, who took part in the monitoring, asked that customers be supplied clean and hygienic food and dishes by engaging in the food hygiene campaign. Similarly, Hotel Pujan, Hotel Makalu, and Anmol Sweet were classified as excellent and distributed with two-star logos. Similarly, Country Inn Hotel Pvt. Ltd., Kailash Hotel, and Mejwani Hotel have received one-star ratings.Delight Go Restaurant has been given a general indication and given some instructions for improvement.

The monitoring team had the hotel operators sign and hand over the food hygiene commitment letter. The monitoring team consisted of Sunil Chaurasia of the Commercial Office Birgunj, Manoj Kumar Das of the Birgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Bibha Mishra, a representative of Birgunj Metropolitan City, and representatives from the District Administration Office Parsa and the District Police Office.
