CAAN asks winter schedule from NAC and Himalaya Airlines to operate international flights from Pokhara
KATHMANDU, Nov 18:After Gautam Buddha International Airport, an initiative has been launched for international flights at Pokhara International Airport.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has held conversations with Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) and Himalaya Airlines about conducting international flights from Pokhara. CAAN has instructed both airlines to begin preparing for flights.
A CAAN officer stated that the proposal was made to run flights from Pokhara to manage commercial flights for both firms, as Tribhuvan International Airport's operation hours have been limited owing to taxi-way expansion.
CAAN has asked both airlines to submit revised winter schedules for flights from Pokhara. "Since both are Nepali airline providers, we have requested winter schedules to operate international flights from Pokhara Airport," CAAN officer stated .
CAAN believes that foreign airlines will be ready to provide services to Pokhara once domestic carriers begin flights. Pokhara International Airport, which opened two years ago, has yet to host a single scheduled commercial flight.
