KATHMANDU, Nov 15:Nima Nuru Sherpa, President of the Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA), has been elected to the UIAA's Management Board.
Sherpa has been elected to the Management Board of the International Climbing and Mountaineering Federation (UIAA), an international mountaineering network.
President Sherpa was elected to the UIAA Management Board from the Representative category during the UIAA General Assembly, which took place in Malta on November 8 and 9.
The Management Board is the UIAA's principal body, responsible for carrying out all policy directives and decisions voted by the General Assembly. It develops the General Assembly's agenda as well as the yearly accounts. It also recommends to the General Assembly the UIAA's long-term strategy.

Previously, former President Zimba Zangbu Sherpa and previous Secretary General Kul Bahadur Gurung represented the Nepal Mountaineering Association on the UIAA Management Board.
Similarly, Peter Muir has been reelected as President of the UIAA. He will serve his second and last term, from 2025 to 2028. Amit Chowdhury (India) and Martin Lascano (Argentina) have both been re-elected to the Executive Board.
