Rara Airport's terminal building nearing completion
MUGU, Nov 05:Rara Airport's terminal building has reached its final stages of completion. The terminal building has reached its final stage, with all construction activities completed save for water supply and sanitation, as well as painting.
Mahesh Nepali, Project Manager of the Airport's Terminal Building and Control Tower, stated that 85 percent of the work has been accomplished thus far.
On Asoj 16, 2076, the Aerodrome Engineering Department and Om Buddha International Pvt Ltd under the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) inked an agreement for the construction of the terminal building, and work began on Kartik 1 of the same year. Nepali, the project's manager, stated that the deadline has been extended four times because the work was not completed within three years of the first contract period, citing various reasons.
According to Bibek Shrestha, a representative of the construction company, if the weather cooperates, the remaining work will be done and the building handed over within 30 days. He stated that the construction time could not be completed owing to geographical obstacles, transportation inconveniences, road blockages caused by rain at various times, a shortage of experienced personnel, and so on.
In the absence of a well-equipped terminal building, passenger aid room, and waiting room, passengers leaving and entering the airport have had to endure hot sun, rain, snow, and winter. The CAAN Officer has stated that it has been doing 'air traffic control' from a wooden tower.
