Prohibition of carrying tourists on horses within Sagarmatha National Park

SOLUKHUMBU, Oct 28:It is prohibited to transport tourists on horses within the Sagarmatha National Park.

On Friday, the park issued an ultimatum to remove the horses from its core area within 7 days.

Within the park's core area, private horse owners transport tourists on their tamed horses. Such work is carried out in locations such as Larcha Dovan, Lobuche, Thukla, and Gorak Shep.

The park claims that horses' mobility will have a negatively impact  on the biological system, fauna, and vegetation in this sensitive geographical location.

The park has cautioned the general population not to let domesticated horses to roam, graze, or stay without authorization from the park. People generally go trekking in this area.
