Tourist destination Timbung Pokhari with Photo
Timbung Pokhari, at an altitude of 4,340 meters, is a famous tourist destination in Koshi Province. Some people also refer to this place as the "Gosaikunda of the East." This pond is located in Sidingwa Rural Municipality of Taplejung.
Timbung Pokhari is surrounded by rocks, and the pond looks stunning. The views around the wide pond are equally captivating. During the summer season, the blooming Kanzo herb adds to the attraction of Timbung Pokhari. Kenzo flowers can be seen blooming on the pond's walls, and the tall kenzo flowers with their leaflets are considered very attractive.
The trek to Timbung Pokhari often begins from Kalikhola in Taplejung. From there, the journey typically takes around 3 to 4 days. During the trek, we stayed at a yak farmhouse and observed the daily activities of the shepherd, such as collecting milk and making churpi. We also had the chance to taste yak milk and churpi while watching herds of yaks grazing on the green grasslands.
Once you arrive, you'll want to stay longer. Timbung Pokhari, filled with religious, biological, and natural beauty, attracts a rush of domestic tourists from July to October each year.
This beautiful lake, nestled in the mountains, serves as a habitat for various types of Lekali herbs and flowers. The melodious sounds of Lekali wildlife and birds, along with the rocky landscape, create a unique atmosphere.
With the increase in the number of visitors, new guesthouses have opened, and many yak farmhouses have been developed to be visitor-friendly, offering facilities for staying and eating.
All these developments are helping to promote visits to the Timbung Pokhari trek.
