Passengers opened emergency doors of Buddha Air at Biratnagar Airport

KATHMANDU, Oct 12:Passengers have opened Buddha Air's emergency door at Biratnagar Airport. On Thursday morning, passengers opened the Buddha Air emergency door while flying from Biratnagar to Janakpur.

Due to inclement weather at Janakpur Airport on Thursday, the flight from Kathmandu landed in Biratnagar. This occurrence occurred during a flight from Biratnagar to Jankarpur when the weather cleared.

In recent weeks, incidences of passengers unlocking airline emergency doors have become public. Passengers opened the emergency doors on Buddha Air flights Asoj 2 from Biratnagar to Kathmandu and Asoj 7 from Nepalgunj to Kathmandu.

The company stated that this has disturbed the flight procedure and impacted the flight schedule.

Before the flight, airlines attendants provide detailed instructions on how to use emergency doors. It cannot be opened except in an emergency. It has a negative impact on flying safety. Buddha Air has committed such passengers to airport security.

Anyone who disrupts an air flight will be penalized with 1 to 3 years jail and up to life imprisonment under the 'Non-Military Aviation (Civil Aviation) Act, 2015', depending on the nature of the crime. Airlines service providers have imposed new restrictions on passengers who inadvertently interrupt flight safety.
