Hotel and restaurant entrepreneurs agreed to sell water at MRP
KATHMANDU, Sep 30:Hotels, restaurants, and resorts have agreed to sell water for the maximum selling price (MRP).
After discussion with Industry, Commerce, and Supply Minister Damodar Bhandari and others, entrepreneurs agreed to sell water at MRP.
After the Department of Commerce, Supplies, and Consumer Protection found that some Kathmandu restaurants were selling water for more than the MRP price and paid a fine of up to 3 lakh rupees, officials from the Hotel Association Nepal (HAN) and the Restaurant & Bar Association Nepal (REBAN) met with the minister. The director general of the department also took part in the discussion.
The meeting concluded that restaurants would sell water at MRP, and hotels and resorts could sell water bottles with their labeling, brand, and MRP, according to a news statement issued by the HAN on Sunday.
During the debate, it was agreed that government personnel would do regular monitoring throughout the festival time, but not in the case of hotels and resorts, according to Sajan Shakya, HAN's General Secretary.
