Lumbini marked Tourism Day by welcoming tourists

LUMBINI, Sep 30:On the occasion of World Tourism Day, tourists were welcomed to Lumbini, Buddha's birthplace, on Friday. Prachanda Bikram Neupane, Minister of Industry, Tourism, and Transport for the Lumbini State Government, and Dr. Lharkyal Lama, Vice President of the Lumbini Development Trust, welcomed the tourists with Khada and Nepali Dhaka Topi.

Yuku Shan, a Japanese national, and Vidya Bagdi and Sunil Bagdi, both Indians national, have been welcomed. Addressing the program, Prachanda Bikram Neupane, Minister of Tourism for the Lumbini Provincial Government, vowed that the provincial government will support Lumbini's development and promotion because Lumbini is the country's pride. He also stated that he will devise a strategy to move forward with the Lumbini Development Trust.

Similarly, Dr. Lharkyal Lama, vice president of the Lumbini Development Trust, stated that we should establish a friendly environment for tourists all year round. He welcomed both foreign and domestic tourists to Lumbini and requested everyone to help promote it. He stated that Lumbini, Buddha's birthplace, is the center of faith for all Buddhist sects around the world, along with Nepal.

President Govinda Gyawali stated that the Lumbini Hotel Association Nepal has organized a one-day excursion and accommodations in Tilaurakot, Ramgram, and other regions for the guests who have arrived in Lumbini.

Lumbini Cultural Municipality, Lumbini Hotel Association, Lumbini Tourism Business Association, Mahamaya Rickshaw Drivers Association, Lumbini Local Guide Association, and Lumbini International Vihara took part in the program organized by the Lumbini Development Trust. 

Up till August 2024, 6 lakh 12 thousand 477 travelers had visited Lumbini both inside and internationally. Last year, approximately one million tourists visited Lumbini. As the season begins this year, the number of tourists is projected to grow. World Tourism Day is held on September 27th every year.
