STC should play a leading role to end artificial scarcity of consumer products: Minister Bhandari
KATHMANDU:The Salt Trading Corporation (STC) has been given instructions by Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Damodar Bhandari to play a leading role in ending the artificial scarcity of consumer products. He advised encouraging the use of technology to expand marketing, scope, and business.
In a program held on Thursday to celebrate the STC's 62nd anniversary, he highlighted that it must be able to establish itself as a trusted institution of the people and the government by preventing consumer products scarcity.
Minister Bhandari emphasized the importance of salt trade in the supply market, and the STC has done extensive work to ensure the availability of important commodities in tough conditions. "The market should not shrink right now, but rather expand and commercialize.
The Chairman of the STC, Pradeep lal Shrestha, stated that the organization is aiming to bring quality daily consumer items at people's doorsteps in an accessible manner. He stated that the STC's services would be made more effective in the following days.
Urmila Shrestha, the STC's chief executive officer (CEO), stated that plans have been made for the simple supply of vital products such as salt, sugar, oil, rice, wheat, pulses, and cooking gas, which are utilized everyday by the general public. "We are proud that we have been able to deliver services to the doorsteps of Common customers during the earthquake and covid in the past," she said.
