Sangita Pahadi appointed as Managing Director of Nepal Telecom

KATHMANDU, Sep 11:The government has appointed Sangita Pahadi as Managing Director of Nepal Telecommunication Company Limited (Nepal Telecom).

The Cabinet meeting on Thursday appointed Pahadi as Telecom Managing Director for the next four years.

Pahadi had previously acting as Telecom's acting managing director since the second week of Ashoj  2080.  At that time, the government had decided to let Pahadi work as acting managing director until further arrangements were made.

Following the Abuse of Authority, the Investigation Commission filed a lawsuit charging corruption in the 'National Payment Gateway System'. Sunil Paudel, the then-Managing Director of Telecom, was suspended, and Pahadi oversaw Telecom until the court's verdict.

Pahadi got a bachelor's degree from Allahabad University in India and a master's degree from the Asian Institute of Technology in Thailand.

She began her career as a temporary engineer at the Nepal Telecommunication Institute and was promoted to a permanent position on Falgun 10, 2051.

Pahadi, who became Deputy Managing Director on March 18, 2078, applied for the position of Telecom Managing Director two times. Previously, Sunil Poudel was one of the last three persons recommended to be managing director.
