Minister Pandey says Sherpa is the hero who saved Everest
KATHMANDU, Sep 03:Badri Pandey, Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, has stated that the mountains are protected by the brave Sherpa community.
Addressing an event held by the Nepal Mountain Academy on Friday, Minister Pandey stated that, like Bir Gorkhali, it was the courageous Sherpa who made Mount Everest recognized. The brave Sherpas are responsible for the mountain's global fame.
Minister Pandey stressed the importance of Mountain Academy's international development.
Minister Pandey emphasized that Mountain Academy should become a global educational hub. He stated, "Now it should be made an international university." I have voiced my conviction that the scope will be broadened to include students from all over the world, not just Solukhumbu and the nearby areas.
Ex-ministers Bal Bahadur KC, Shankar Prasad Koirala, Shankar Prasad Pandey, Premkumar Shrestha, Santosh Thapa Magar, and Lakhphuti Sherpa were recognized during the program. Mountain Academy students researched and launched the journal Voice of Himal.
