Ministry of Finance approved draft bill to divide CAAN
KATHMANDU, Sep 01:The Ministry of Finance has consented to the draft bill to split the civil aviation industry's regulatory and service provider bodies, which was forwarded by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation in order to make the sector safer. After the agreement, the bill reached to the Ministry of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs.
The current Civil Aviation Act includes both the regulating agency and the service provider, which is why it has drawn opposition from both domestic and foreign stakeholders.
Badri Prasad Pandey, Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, immediately took leadership of the ministry and prioritized the bill, which had been blocked for a long time.
The Bill will be submitted to Parliament through the Council of Ministers after receiving the Ministry of Law's approval and the Ministry of Finance's clearance. Minister Pandey examined the problem with the former tourism minister and other stakeholders, as well as solicited public feedback.
