Himalaya Mahalaxmi Tea Garden and Kathmandu University partnership
KATHMANDU:The Himalaya Mahalaxmi Tea Garden Pvt Ltd will collaborate with School of Science at Kathmandu University.
The press statement states that an agreement has been reached whereby Himalaya Mahalaxmi would permit university students majoring in agricultural science to conduct experimental exercises in their tea garden, and the university will provide training to the company's employees.
In the agreement, Dean of the University's School of Science Prof. Dr. Janardhan Lamichhane and Tea Garden owner Sudarshan Chapagai have signed.
"Kathmandu University will provide agricultural technical training to the employees of Himalaya Mahalaxmi Tea Garden and assist them in increasing their knowledge, skills and abilities related to tea and other commercial farming,".
According to the MoU, the University will set up an Agriculture Research Center at the Himalaya Mahalakshmi Tea Garden, the press release said. The research center will conduct research on tea and other agricultural products. It is said that the findings obtained from the research will be used in commercial farming. It is expected that the production and processing of the agricultural sector will also be modernized.
