A team of specialist doctors arrived at Gosainkunda to provide healthcare to pilgrims.
KATHMANDU, Aug 17:A team of experienced doctors has gone there to treat pilgrims who have arrived for the Janaipurnima fair in Gosainkunda, a well-known religious pilgrimage site in the northern area of Rasuwa.
In partnership with the Bagmati Province Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Cooperatives and the Himalayan Rescue Association Kathmandu, a party of eight persons, including a doctor, traveled to Gosainkunda to address the numerous problems of pilgrims attending the fair.
Gobind Basyal, the association's chief executive officer, informed that an eight-person delegation led by Dr. Sushan Humagai had gone for Gosainkund.
Dr. Humagai, Dr. Anjila Thapa, Dr. Savitra Thapa, Dr. Suryaprakash Joshi, Dr. Resika Shrestha, medical student Jagat Bhatt, post assistant Prakash Khatri, and the association's representative Sriram Khatri had also reached Gosainkunda. The group will serve for ten days in the Gosaikunda area.
"The said team will provide health services to the devotees going to Gosainkunda on the way and after reaching Gosainkunda, they will check their health from Ekadashi to Purnima," Basyal, the association's president, stated. Dumbar Parajuli, head of the association, stated that since 1997, the association has sent a group of doctors to Gosaikunda to provide free health care.
President Parajuli stated that the association will provide free medical treatment and health services to pilgrims who visited Gosainkunda. Between Ekadashi and Bhadra Shukla Purnima, a fair is conducted at Gosainkunda, which is 4,380 meters above sea level.
Thousands of pilgrims from throughout the country and beyond attend this fair to view the kunda. Gosaikunda hosts a fair twice a year, on Gangadshahra and Janai Purnima.
