RSP registers a resolution for an urgent parliamentary discussion on air safety

KATHMANDU, Aug 17:The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has filed a proposal of urgent public importance, demanding that parliament discuss the frequent plane accidents.

RSP MP Sobita Gautam registered the request to the Parliament Secretariat on Tuesday. "Continuously being included in the EU's blacklist on the one hand, and frequent air accidents on the other hand, is not a coincidence, it is a major failure of Nepal's air sector and the inaction of the responsible authorities," the resolution claimed.

The proposal states that an inquiry committee will be constituted following the aviation crash, however the suggestions outlined in the report will not be adopted.

Gautam argues that parliament should take the initiative to separate the CAAN into regulators and service providers.

13 Rastriya Swatantra Party MPs have supported the proposal.
