Former ministers of tourism suggest separating the CAAN

KATHMANDU, Aug 13:Former Ministers of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation have suggested that the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) be separated into a service provider and a regulatory organization.

Tourism Minister Badri Pandey discussed prior ministers' suggestions for improvement the aviation industry as a whole during a meeting on Friday at the Ministry.

They suggested separating regulatory and service provider agencies in the Civil Aviation Act.

Minister Pandey requested several suggestions regarding culture, tourism, and civil aviation. At the same time, prior ministers have stated that ship accidents in Nepal are caused by human, technical, and weather factors.

They emphasized that while technological and human factors can be improved, it is important to consider climatic factors as well.  They say that the blame should not be placed only on the pilot who lost his life after the accident.

Former tourism ministers also stated that a radical overhaul of the CAAN is required, and that the ministry cannot function efficiently or properly until this is completed. They suggested that the purchase and repair of the plane should be done only after consideration.

They also urged that the CAAN and other places exercise caution.

Former ministers suggestions that rather than forming a commission after an occurrence, we should organize a commission before the incident and try to prevent accidents from occurring.

Former tourism ministers Bal Bahadur KC, Ananda Pokharel, Bhanu Bhakta Dhakal, Prem Ale, Jeevan Bahadur Shahi, Hit Bahadur Tamang, and others joined the discussion.'W
