Thai AirAsia will operate four daily flights to Thailand from GBIA

KATHMANDU, Aug 12:It has been launched that there will be regular flights from Gautam Buddha International Airport to Thailand. Thai AirAsia will operate four daily flights from Gautam Buddha International Airport. The Nepal Civil Aviation Authority has granted Thai AirAsia permission to operate four flights each day.

Beginning September 20, Thai Air Asia will fly direct to Thailand from Gautam Buddha International Airport. The CAAN has approved the same airline to operate three daily flights from Tribhuvan International Airport.

According to CAAN sources, Thai Air Asia requested approval for seven daily flights from Tribhuvan International Airport. However, the CAAN's director general, Pradeep Adhikari, had established a condition for regular flights from the Gautam Buddha International Airport in Bhairahawa.

According to the CAAN, the decision was made because Thai AirAsia is also willing to fly from Bhairahawa within the limits imposed by the authorities. Thai AirAsia has Universal Travel as a General Sales Agent (GSA) in Nepal.

Businessmen anticipate that direct flights from Bhairahawa to Buddhist-majority Thailand will boost tourism. Every year, a huge number of Thais travel to Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Gautam Buddha, while a large number of Nepalese visit Thailand.

Jazeera Air once operated daily flights from Gautam Buddha International Airport. However, the airlines have not conducted regular flights in the recent year due to a shortage of passengers. Currently, Nepal Airlines operates one flight every week.
