The Biggest Mehendi Bhela: Shrawan Mela 2081 concluded

KATHMANDU, Aug 12:The Biggest Mehendi Bhela: Shrawan Mela 2081, a grand two-day event organized by Classics Projects was designed to honor the colorful and joyous festivities of the holiest  month of the year, 'Shrawan’. “Shrawan” month is celebrated by Hindu women with the devotion to Lord Shiva who is considered as the protector and believed to bring blessings, prosperity and fulfillment of one’s desires. The event was held at Hotel Annapurna, Durbarmarg on the 2nd and 3rd of August. 

With a crowd pool of over 2,000 people, the event was held with the main aim to bring together both women and men from different communities in one platform and facilitate a vibrant ambience for all ages.. The event organizers kept the Shrawan rituals and practices intact with the event by providing vegetarian food only stalls, no alcohol or smoking policy and thus, promoting the divine month. A larger than life “Shiva Linga” was placed at the heart of the venue to tie it all together for people to get their blessings of the day.

The 2-day event was inaugurated by former Miss Nepal, Miss. Ishani Shrestha and hosted by Khushboo Pradhan, followed by various celebrities and social media influencers attending the event. 

Shrawan Mela beautifully encapsulated the essence of Nepalese-Hindu culture, tradition, and spirituality with many vibrant décor and Photo booths carefully reflecting all elements of Shrawan for people to enjoy and take pictures.

Since the target was to create the biggest Mehendi Bhela (gathering), over 10 Mehendi artists were on board during the event catering to women and men who enjoyed the beautiful stain of red/brown designs on their hands. Henna or Mehendi is one of the most enjoyed components of Shrawan that women look forward to doing.

All elements of Shrawan festival were carefully taken in consideration while crafting the event. This included food catering only vegetarian dishes for many women fast and switching to a vegetarian lifestyle during this month. Over 36 stalls were set up with sellers selling ethnic wears, jewelry, and accessories.
