Flights disrupts at Resunga Airport for a month

GULMI, Aug 02:For the past month, air flights have been disrupted at the district's Resunga airport. Suman Thapa, the head of Resunga Airport, informed us that flights have been suspended since the second week of Asar due to heavy rain and fog during the rainy season.

According to him, Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC), which had been flying three times a week recently, has been unable to fly since Asar 14. Passengers who have booked tickets for Resunga-Kathmandu and Kathmandu-Resunga report that they return to the airport every day.

Chief Thapa stated that there will be problems with regular flights until the weather improves, thus the flight has been canceled to ensure the passengers' safety. Gulmi's Resunga airport is flying with 18-seat TwinOtter aircraft of the NAC. There is a regular flight schedule from Kathmandu at 6:30 a.m. to Resunga Airport at 7:30 a.m.

According to the same schedule, the NAC has set a fare of 7 thousand 500 for Resunga from Kathmandu and 7 thousand 300 for Resunga from Kathmandu. Commercial aviation flights began in the district last year.

Due to heavy winds at Resunga Airport in the afternoon, it is judged appropriate from a technical standpoint to take off planes only until 11 a.m. Recently, with the introduction of air flights, the number of domestic and foreign tourists visiting the district has increased.

According to the Airport Office, there were 125 flights from Resunga Airport to Kathmandu in a year. The airport is located five kilometers from Tamghas' headquarters.
