18 people killed in Saurya Airlines plane crash; pilot survives

KATHMANDU, July 24:Saurya Airlines' plane crashed, killed 18 passengers. The Nepal Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) reported that 18 people died and one was injured.

According to a statement made by the CAAN's Search and Rescue Coordination Center, 18 bodies were recovered after the fire was brought under control.

Saurya Airlines' plane, callsign 9N-AME/CRJ200, crashed within the airport on its way from Kathmandu to Pokhara on Wednesday morning. There were 19 people on the plane, including crew members.

Pilot Manish Shakya was on the plane. Shakya was rescued from the scene and transported to KMC Hospital in Sinamangal.
