Jazeera Airways and Wizz Air conditions for tax exemptions on flights from GBIA

Jazeera Airways and Wizz Air conditions for tax exemptions on flights from GBIA

KATHMANDU, July 17:Jazeera Airways and Wizz Air have set conditions for tax exemption to  flights from Bhairahawa's Gautam Buddha International Airport.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has notified us that they are prepared to fly to Gautam Buddha International Airport after being exempted from air value-added tax (VAT) and fuel tax.

According to CAAN Information Officer Gyanendra Bhul, Jazeera Airways has requested a variety of tax and tariff breaks in order to resume flights from Gautam Buddha International Airport. He informed me that Wizz Air had made the same requests to fly to that airport.

Bhul added that two companies, Thai AirAsia and Air India Express, had been contacted for commercial flights from Gautam Buddha International Airport, while Tribhuvan International Airport will be closed for 10 hours each day beginning in October for maintenance.

He stated that the CAAN has written to offer them regular commercial flights in Nepal, departing from Gautam Buddha International Airport.

Although Jazeera Airways previously operated a service from Gautam Buddha International Airport to Abu Dhabi, it has temporarily halted the flight due to poor business conditions. Jazeera Airways has revealed that they asked for various concessions for flights from Gautam Buddha International Airport. The company says to be prepared to fly on a regular basis if Nepal is ready for it.
