Thamel to be promoted as "Digital Thamel"

KATHMANDU, July 14:Thamel, a major tourist destination, will be promoted as 'Digital Thamel'.

In the Thamel Tourism Development Council election  to be held on July 15, the candidate for chairmanship, Bhabishwor Sharma, stated that he had submitted his candidacy to progress Thamel digitally through the group's 'Candidate Introductory' program.

"Even though we have solved the problems seen in Thamel in collaboration with the local government, we have prioritized digital Thamel because we could not connect the nationally and internationally known Thamel with the development of technology," stated Mr. Sharma.

Chairman Sharma stated that the first goal after being elected is digitalization, and the thamel tourism development council would collect data from all company owners and house  owners via its website to make it easier for domestic and foreign tourists to obtain the information they require.

He stated that Thamel will be designated as a special tourist zone, that peace and security will be preserved, that traffic and garbage will be managed, that wiring and streetlights will be installed, and that amicable relationships between house owners and businessmen will be maintained.

Another Candidate for the chairman , Dhurba Adhikari, stated that he is running to carry out the excellent objectives proposed by the previous working committee. He stated that house owners and businessmen will work together to build a more organized Thamel. The Adhikari stated that their goal is to make Thamel clean, beautiful, and safe.

Sharma's panel of candidates for Vice chairman includes Sahdev Dhamala, Rajeev Pandey, and Chetanath Pudasaini. Candidates include Badri Prasad Timilsina, secretary Punyaram Lageju, and treasurer Prakash Thapaliya. Thapaliya, the treasurer's candidate, ran unopposed. 

The candidates member  include Kopila Simkhada, Roshan Adhikari, Kumar Nepali, Purnaprasad Chaulagain, Binod Shrestha, Amrit Thokar, Sanukaji Maharjan, and Ramesh Bishwakarma.
