CAAN is making standards to operate ground handling services at GBIA through competition

KATHMANDU, June 23:The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) is about to make standards for allowing private air service providers to operate ground handling services at Gautam Buddha International Airport through competition.

CAAN formed a committee, coordinated by Acting Director Utsav Kharel, to making standards. Gyanendra Bhul, CAAN's communication officer, stated that the committee has reached the last stage of making standards.

The committee is actively working to develop standards. The tender for ground handling services would be ready after the committee's documents have been approved by the board, according to Bhul.

CAAN has decided to allow private companies to conduct ground handling services at Gautam Buddha International Airport through competition and listed Himalaya Airlines , Buddha Air, Shree Airlines, and Yeti Airlines as eligible for ground handling services on May 30.
