'Prosperity possible through cultural promotion'

KATHMANDU, June 21: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Hit Bahadur Tamang, has said the country could achieve prosperity through culture.

Addressing a programme organized to mark the 52nd anniversary of the Cultural Corporation in the federal capital on Wednesday, Minister Tamang viewed culture is the medium of social awareness, which could be linked to tourism. The tourism could be explored for country's prosperity, he added.

The Minister further viewed the Corporation had a role on social transformation via campaigns. It had also generated employments.

"Nepal is rich in diverse ethnicities, languages and cultures. They deserve protection and promotion for country's identity. The ministry is working actively to this end," Minister Tamang reminded, adding that cooperation is needed from multiple sectors for cultural protection.

He also urged the Corporation to continue its role to bring public awareness and protect Nepalis' identity. Cultural heritage has a significant value, Minister Tamang argued.

The Cultural Corporation was initially established as the Rastriya Nachghar in 2018BS and later got present name in 2029BS in line with the Communications Corporation Act, 2028.
