PATA International HQ elects Suman Pandey as Vice Chair
KATHMANDU, June 09:Suman Pandey, president of Explore Himalaya Travel and Adventure, has been elected vice chair of the Pacific Asia Travel Association's (PATA) international headquarters.
Pandey was elected unopposed in March after Guam's Gerald Perez withdrew his nomination.
The results of the whole working committee, including Pandey, were reported by the monitoring committee and approved by the joint general meeting on June 7th.
It is the first time the Pata of Nepal, a member since 1975, has been represented at this level of authority. Pandey previously served as secretary and treasurer for two terms, 2020-2024.
Pandey is a tourism entrepreneur with considerable experience in trekking, mountaineering, hotels, airlines, helicopters, and the food and beverage business. He was also a previous Chair of the Trekking Agents Association of Nepal (TAAN), Secretary of the Airlines Operators Association of Nepal, Chairman of the PATA Nepal Chapter, and Executive Board Member of the Nepal Tourism Board.
PATA was founded in 1951 in California, USA, and has its headquarters in Bangkok, Thailand, since 1998. Its mission is to support and cooperate with its member countries in mutual tourism exchanges or economic expansions for the Asia-Pacific region.
