Today is the 71st International Everest Day.

Tenzing Norgay Sherpa from Nepal and Sir Edmund Hillary  from New Zealand climbed Everest for the first time on May 29, 1953, which is today.

Everest Day is observed on this day each year in memory of the same day.

On Mount Everest Day, the Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) organized a prabhat pheri rally in Kathmandu on Wednesday morning.

The theme for this year's International Everest Day is 'The highest peak in the world, Everest, the identity and pride of Nepal'.

In prabhat pheri, numerous tourism associations held a rally with banners and cultural exhibitions that reflected originality.

The  prabhat pheri rally started from Sanchayakosh Bhawan and concluded at Pragya Bhavan Kamaladi.

A special celebration to mark International Everest Day has been held at Pragya Bhawan Kamaladi.
